As you may have probably experienced, Wednesday (for some Tuesday) afternoon facebook went down for a billion of its users worldwide. Unfortunately, it is not the first time this has happened and respectively, various questions can or have already arised: Can facebook affect my cloud? What to do when Facebook’s down? And more. To find your answers, read my full overview!
Can Facebook affect my cloud?
Yes, yes it can. A lot of cloud storage services provide “convenient” ways to give you their storage, which consequently include Facebook logins. And if you happen to be one of these “less effort works for me” enthusiasts, well tough luck as in such a case, Facebook wouldn’t be working for you – at all.
In no particular order, here are some of the cloud storage providers you can join with your Facebook account.
- Zeospace
- Surdoc
- Pogoplug
- UCloud
- Drive by Jolicloud
- Primadesk
- CloudHQ
- CloudKaf’é
What to do when Facebook’s down?
Backup your files! We can’t know for how long will Facebook be unavailable next time, so it’s a good idea to take measures not to lose your important photos and videos. Similarly to how cloud storage providers allow you to join their community with Facebook, some of them allow Facebook backup.
Again, in no particular order, below you can find services you can save your Facebook media to:
- IDrive
- Yandex.Disk
- pCloud
- SugarSync
- Backupfy
Moral of the story:
The most convenient way isn’t always the right way. If you want to be unaffected from future Facebook crashes, I would advise you to use your cloud independently and for the sake of safety, backup your important photos and videos.
